Default help with wireless mouse and keyboard

i am in the market for a wireless mouse and keyboard. i want one with some media buttons on the top like play, next, back, stop, pause for my media player and i also want it to work more than 6ft away.

i am very bitter towards this microsoft set i bought. the keyboard is junk and neither of them work more than 6ft away, and i paid $65 for it. it is going back to the store asap.

PS-- I'm partial to Logitech myself-- though I don't do wireless... so I can't vouch for their wireless products. I have an older "Elite" Keyboard and an MX-518 optical mouse-- and I love them both. Simple/comfortable designs --with all the bells & whistles.

Max Ranges for Radio Frequency based keyboards about 6 ft-- bluetooth boards
are about 30 ft

There are also ways to boost your wireless signal overall whether that would help I don't know...
