Default Total newbie needs help for Ubuntu 8.10

Hi, last night I installed Ubuntu 8.10.
For Web there is nothing that anyone need on Ubuntu,it has everything, that's great.
But still too many problems
1. I have downloaded at least 15 drivers for NVidia GeForce 5200 FX, and none of them work.
2. Also I cannt find drivers for CMI8738 sound card.
3. Which codecs to use so I can listen mp3,and watch avi movies.
4. I have this
wine-1.0.1.tar.bz2 .Do I need anythings else for Wine.

THX but I still need to solve 3 problems.
Anyone knows how.

P.S. Is there any chance to save some drivers on disk, not to install them...

Hey let me get help if I can from another Tech.

I am new to this also and it appears to be a little bit of a pain.

But lets keep trying,do not give up yet.

I answered your other post regarding nVidia driver downloads here.

Any other drivers should be available from the Repository which you access from within Ubuntu.

I am not very good with Linux, but there are help forums dedicated to Ubuntu, which you should be able to get some clues from...

LoneWolf agrees: I've only played with PCLOS a little bit and it did stand out in my mind that emphasis was put on making sure that drivers were accessed from within the repository and I'm sure they did that for good cause.
