Default Ubuntu user with problems configuring WBR 1310

Hi, I have this problem I tried to get an answer from the forum of Ubuntu, but no one has answered me yet! And someone is already stealing my wireless internet, I know that. So this is basically what I said:

Hello fellow Ubunters (Idk) lol so I got problems with my WBR 1310. See, I got two desktop computers, one downstairs (Mine) and the other upstairs (my mom's), and my computer is the one that has the internet access (we got internet thru the cable company, so the modem we use its by my computer). So that's the reason I got this wireless router, so that from this computer, I can give internet to my mom's computer.

So recently I was having problems with my internet connection, I used to have Windows Vista, and the internet would drop all of a sudden randomly. And I got curious with Ubuntu, tried the Live CD, the internet actually worked! So I decided to install Ubuntu instead! Now, before this, while I was still using Vista, on one of my desperate actions trying to connect online, I tried to reset my router, after that, that's when I got tired and switched to Ubuntu.

Now my problem is, the router got reseted, so now it doesn't have the key to get the online connection (WEP I think its called). My mom needs it because she can get on it normally, but she doesn't have to type a key in, that's the problem, anybody can get on it and use the internet for free, and I don't want that! So I tried to go to the set up page on 192.168.0.1 and whenever I try to access that site, I get kicked off the internet and my connection falls again, and it reconnects itself after a few seconds. But literally, I can't access that set up page! I tried doing some stuff I searched and found on the forum but none of them worked for me. What am I doing wrong? I'm still pretty new at Ubuntu, only a few days old. So I am not too advanced and don't know too much about it. Thanks for your help!
They never wrote back so now the thanks goes to you if you help me lol

Snoop, unfortunately the problem lies with the router. It is a known issue with D-Link and the problem occurs with the login and password combo. Sometimes you can go in with admin as login and password blank or vice versa. As quoted from a dedicated Ubuntu user with the same issues:

It rejects the default user name and password (or if you've changed the user name and password, it will reject that.) There's something wrong with this entire line of routers. There are tons of other people that have the same problem. Every so often, the router needs to be reset in order to gain access to the control panel, it will reject every user name and password combination. I guess D-link pretty much refuses to admit that there's a problem with the router, because they act like nothing is wrong when you call in about it.

Resetting the router is the only fix for this and your going to need to do it again. If you mess with the settings a lot and it would be a pain to have to change all the settings to your preferred liking, you may want to consider getting a new router, because this will happen a lot.

Good Luck!

Well, thanks for answering back to me, even though its some sad response for me lol but what I tried to say is that I can't even get to the login screen. As in, I type that IP number in the address bar, and instead of at least showing me the login screen, it just gets kicked out of the network. I don't know if I'm explaining myself right lol

Sorry Snoop, sometimes I read faster than my brain can handle.... This trick works for other D-Link routers but I never tried it with your model. Instead of 192.168.0.1, try putting http://192.168.0.1:80/login.cgi into the address bar. The machine is gonna act like you lost connection but after a few seconds you should be able to go to 192.168.0.1 and login again like normal.

Ah, it didn't work I also tried resetting the router again to see if it was the router and it didn't work maybe its just that I can't access the router's configuration page from Ubuntu? :S

Well, apparently I solved this problem now! All I did was go to terminal and type network-admin
after that, I unlock the menu and I go to wired networks and enable dhcp! Apparently that was my problem the whole time ago. Thanks anyway!
