Re: Need a Answer
Linux is an exceptionally well written and well documented OS that will run on multiple hardware selections. Power PC, 64 bit whatevers, x86 whatevers (this is what most PCs are). It was originally written by Linus Torvalds as a project to convert minix (another neat toy) into a fully operational and free OS that the average user could learn with just a bit of studying. If you already know any flavor of Unix (AIX, HP, True64, Solaris, BSD,...) Linux will be a piece of cake to learn. If you don't, and you are really interested, take a Linux intro class at your local college. Or just buy a book and start reading. A good text is "Linux+ A Guide to Certification" by Deitel & Deitel from Pearson Publishing. Not cheap but an excellent learner's tool.
