Default Multiple OS at startup

Apologies if I'm in the wrong place, I'm a newbie and still finding my way round this site.

I'm running XP on my primary HDD and Linux Ubuntu on the secondary.

Problem is, at startup I now have 5 versions of Ubuntu listed due to major upgrades added over the past few weeks.

I want to remove earlier versions but when I look at boot.ini I can't see how to edit the file.

I'm probably looking in the wrong place - any ideas?

Hey..
The linux grub takes a priority over the Windows boot-up mechanism. Hence you get the linux grub askin for you to choose which OS you want 2 choose and not the Windows. To remove the old upgrade options you will hav to change dem in Linux. I ve unfortunately unistalled Linux from my comp so cant tel u exactly where to edit the grub file but it might be in the boot folder in ur linux drive. u need to log in as root n only then can u the boot file. chk sumwhere else on dis site for a more definitive ans. dis is al that i can help...

Many thanks mlmisra,
I used Synaptic to track down 5 older versions and removed them - no problem!
