Default Internet works on XP but not Linux

My Ubuntu Linux worked great with the internet for days after I installed it (I have XP and Ubuntu on this PC). Now it won't connect to the internet. This happened before, but I restarted my computer and it was fine. Now I can't get connection no matter what. I haven't changed any settings or anything like that. XP connects to the internet perfectly.

How can I fix this problem?

The internet works not for some reason... I didn't change any settings... It will probably be down again if I restart my computer.

Boot into XP and check what you have for network settings and write it down. Now reboot into Ubuntu and set the network options to match M$ Windoze. I'm not sure where it is in Ubuntu, I run Fedora. If you have the GNU desktop, it's under the administration settings, network and network hardware (I think, going from memory here). Downstairs on the wifey's laptop and the real machine (aka Linux) is upstairs in the office.

ciao,
