K, I have linux (Ubuntu 7.10)

I got innotek VirtualBox.

Can I get windows viruses if I'm running an XP virtual machine? And if I can would it affect the whole computer or just the virtual hdd?

Howdy TheDuckTapeKing..

As far as I know the only virus that you could get that would ruin anything would be one that eats your hard drives.. Other than that no..

Hi Good question I'm sure some one will know. I would like to think it would only effect the virtual os. And I think it would be able to be infected for sure if it's connected to the net couldn't the system files ect be infected in the virtual OS.

You beat me Merlin I'm sure you would know

If you were running Windows in a virtual machine, the Windows virtual machine can still get viruses, but they are limited to the virtual OS, your Ubuntu installation won't get virused.

A virtual PC is like an e-glove that can't be ripped.
