Yes, I finally got this to work. Not virtualized, but that's OK. I figured out that I didn't burn the ISO correctly to the CD the first time, so it wouldn't boot.

EDIT: I suppose the screenshots would be nice...

Hey, if you like eye candy, try running the Beryl desktop manager over Gnome. It's really nice.

I don't mind Ubuntu all that much but I prefer Fedora Core. Though It's going to be a while before i look at Linux again lol

It really doesn't seem that much different than Windows, or at least the UI isn't that different.

I also heard that Beryl wouldn't run on 7.04?

Bummer there.

The thing with the Linx GUIs is that I find that it doesn't make the OS any more intuitive. Though, double clicking on an icon is much easier than typing a CD command, if you notice the plethora of things you can configure in windows without using the command line, it's just not the case with Linux. If you're not good with the terminal you simply will not master the OS.

To some degree that's also true in a Windows environment, however there seems to be a lot more you can do without the command line in WinXP and such.

not saying that linux is a bad thing, but the command line is essential to running it to much potential.

The command line expedites a lot of things though... Instead of flipping through 3 or 4 panels you can issue a command and have it done instantly.

Very. Plus, it has a live CD so you can test it out before you actually install.

Ubuntu is an off-shoot of Debian...
