Default [Discussion] Virtual Ubuntu

OK folks, I have set off trying to (blindly) install Ubuntu into an emulated environment using QEMU... So, by the time I'm done, I will either have a really cool tutorial to add to the PCHF library... Or I will be wishing I bought VMWare .

EDIT: Wish I had bought VMWare . Looks like I'm installing Ubuntu the old fashioned way .

EDIT AGAIN: I don't even get it the old fashioned way . My disc with the ISO on it won't boot... So, I'm installing a version of Slackware I have instead .

Slackware you may find a bit difficult of you're a begginer, compiling apps from source can be a bit of a pain.

If you wait a couple of days I'll get finished with the tutorial I started writing which will explain how to use ubuntu with the free VMWare player and basic commands etc etc.

Check the MD5 hashes of the iso you have against the ones published on the website.

Also if you just wanna get your feet wet so to speak, install VMWare player and DSL (D/\mn small linux) provide a VMWare image.
