In, coLinux mode, I can set it temporarily but when you restart it resets itself. In real mode it works though.

OK, you are a webhosting guru, how do you remove a messed-up MySQL installation (I tried to install it because I wanted to run a testing server on the Linux platform, but MySQL doesnt really support Slackware Linux.
