I've had a problem with my laptop monitor for a few months now, I have a HP Pavilion dv8000. I was hoping there was a cheap and easy solution to my problem. Everything that is white, turns purple. Everything that is black turns green and sometimes the colors shimmer.

I've asked around about the issue and the only thing anyone provides me with is, "It's a display problem". Well, duh. I was hoping for a solution to my display problem! Any suggestions?

Can you try using an external monitor to see if this cures the fault.

Have you tried re-installing the graphic card drivers for the Dell?

do you have the full model number for the hp laptop , its usually located underneath on a sticker?

I hooked it up to another monitor and the colors were normal. So...its obviously my computer screen =[

I'm confused...I dont have a dell. But I just re-installed the drivers a few months ago. Though I had this problem before and after I did that.

There are about 8 different numbers on these two stickers on my computer. Which one? Not one of them say model number.

Are you sure it's an 8000 series?

Yeah...looking at it right now. dv8000 Unless its a major typo printed onto the computer when it was made.
