Default Laptop Screen Problems

Hi all,

I have an Acer Aspire 3634WLMi and the screen has been playing up for a while on it. It has been going grainy, etc, for a while, but afer a bit of fold and moving the screen a little it would go away, but now I can't get it to stay the same. But I I twist the screen a little it will go back to normal, but a soon as I let go it goes back to how it was, its hard to explain the problem.

Any ideas if its fixable?

Hi

Sounds like you may have a break in the cable that connects the graphics card to the screen. Every time you twist it, whilst it displays the screen properly for a while, it will potentially be making the problem worse. Unless you are confident and experienced at laptop repairs then this will more than likely need to be taken to a laptop repair person.

hello ratters

as hengis quite rightly said it could be the cable , and i have seen it many times before when the same problem could be the screen gone too ,
if you gently squeeze the lid around the outside edge does it have the same effect as twisting it ? either along the top edge or down either side?
if the gentle steady presure exerted around the edge causes the same good/bad screen quality then it would more likely be the screen,

this is fixable, with a little caution and patience ,but it may involve purchasing a replacement screen , if you feel comfortable in taking it apart,?
