Hello all,
I'm not quite sure where to post this, but I thought I'd give the lounge a try... It's more of a curiosity question to possibly create better data retention at my company. And here it is...
Question: How do you handle data backup on laptops for a large number of employees??
Our current solution and why it doesn't seem like the best: Currently we setup a briefcase on the users laptop and have a "data" folder on the servers (which get backed up daily) for each laptop user and we create a sync copy from the server to the laptop. This in turn enables us to have a daily backup of whatever data is in the users briefcase IF the user remembers to update their breifcase. Here lies the problem, it is ALL based on the user updating their briefcase, in which we all know will NOT always happen... Our desktops are easy as they are always connected and we back them up every weekend. With the laptops being portable and not always connected at night or weekends, this is not an option. I'm basically trying to see if anyone out there knows of a more reliable way to backkup data on laptops rather than relying on the user...
Hopefully we will get some good ideas out of this one and I apologize ahead of time if it should have been posted in a different location...
Thanks,
Scott
