I tried running in Safe Mode w/Networking, but it froze while those lines of text were loading or popping up. It take a while before the start up is normal(maybe needs to cool down after each). I won't be able to respond in 24 hrs. I'll get back with an update on further tries till then.

Thanks

Hello, so far when I run Safe Mode w/Networking it stops at "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\syste m32\DRIVERS\gag30kx.sys"

It still takes many tries for the start up to work. Whenever I go to the other options it freezes during the process with a black screen.

Good day, Tymoti!

A Windows repair or perhaps even sfc /scannow should get you past that. Do you have your original Windows Operating Systems CD?

Instructions for sfc /scannow

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe)

Instructions for Windows Repair

Perform a Repair Installation

Thank you for helping DCiAdmin.

Just today I was able to get past that problem I stated in the last post about running in Safe Mode w/Networking. Though the problem still continues when the fan starts running everything freezes. I was about to log in as administrator and as it went back to the Safe Mode screen it froze.

Unfortunately I don't have an original Windows Operating Systems CD.

I tried to open up my laptop, but even though I've taken all the screws off there is something inside holding the two halves together. I'm scared to force it open yet since there may be a chance to fix it instead of taking the hard drive out just to save my files.

Does a Repair Installation/Windows Repair clear anything?

Clear anything? No, but it does repair missing or corrupt files.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me

I just don't know how to get Windows XP Setup CD. Although I'm worried that while I'm trying this, it will freeze up on me as always.
