    I have a compaq presario cq61-411wm and i have replaced the battery but for some reason my computer doesnt reconize that it has been reaplaced . It still shows the battery icon with the red "x" throught it right now im running off the charger but if I unplug it it will shut off . I have read that updating the BIOS will help , but I ve done that but it still wont work. any ideas?.. I hope u posted this in the right spot....

    because i have done the battery scan and it shows battery status : invalid. but if i put the old battery back and do it it says replace

    "If the Battery Health status is "Invalid ", either the AC adapter is not connected, more than one battery is installed or the battery is not installed correctly. Please follow the instructions in the Battery Check to correct the condition."

    Charge your battery to 100% and then let it drain to 0%.

    it wont charge at all. i have the new battery in and on charge but it still shows the battery icon with the red x and says no battery detected
