So on the computer I am using now... The network connections area looks like this

But the one that I want to use that i just re-installed windows XP looks like this
Imageshack - badh
I am using a DsL internet connection that is just basically plug-and-play. Internet has worked before on that computer before.

welcome to the forum. The problem is you dont have a network you need to install the drivers for the 3com network card which is likely to be on the mother board disk or these should work
You will find a yellow marker in device manager next to the network card |

If you download the above you will get a exe file run that and it will unpack the files to a directory an din there you will find a file to run to install the network drivers

okay well i tried to install them on the other computer. I used a USB drive to bring the file to the other comp. But nothing happened. It unpacked the files to a folder and then it installed it but nothing ran.

oh and i did find the yellow marker in the device manager. But it just prompted me to install something i needed the internet to install.

do you know what it ask for? There may be no yellow marker if for some reason it hasnt found the network card but the drivers will fix it you may have to reboot after you install them
