I have a 2wire router, and all the other computers connect fine, this is my only computer with Vista on it, the only one with a problem.
Rebooting fixes the problem, but then it happens again.

Any ideas?
Thanks

I just got a new laptop this year, its a Dell Inspiron 1440, which has Vista on it, and the internet just stops working. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after 3 hours, webpages will no longer load. It's still connected to the internet, but webpages don't load, I've tried with Chrome, Firefox, and IE. I try to diagnose the problem, and it tells me that there is no problem with my internet connection.

Well, you need to know the reason for the slow response of it.Maybe it caused by the computer itself or the slow reponse of internet/servers.
You can use another computer to have a try,if you can make sure it was the problem of internet. Then you can deploy network monitor in your network, such as wireshark,Capsa and Omnipeek can do it. After you run it for several minutes, you can analyze the packets then you can know where the problems lies. or you can refer to this article for more details, Find Why Network is Slow - Colasoft I hope this can be helpful.

a quick way that might work instead of rebooting your laptop, is to turn off and on the wireless on your laptop.
You may have a switch on the side of your laptop to turn off wireless or it could be a simbol on one of your Function keys. To turn off wireless on function key press : Fn + (function key number, for example F6) ^ Not a fix. Also, check your wireless driver is up-to-date. If you can't find the driver, reply with the driver name and ill search for latest version

@malcom Yeah I usually do that sometimes it works but others it doesn't. I will check the driver to see if its up to date. |

Well, I looked at the driver and it is currently up to date.
Any other ideas? |

Apologies for the delay Nighttalker
![]() Has this always been an issue for this system? If not, then I would have to suggest that malware *might* be an issue. You could have the PCHF Security team evaluate a few logs to see if that's the case. To proceed down that path, please follow the steps in PreWork (link found in my signature line)
