Firstly i am new to this so be kind..

My pc recently had a hissy fit and now it wont let me access any web sites where a login to an account is required. Sites such as facebook, my sports betting account, amazon and all sites where i have registered and am required to enter a user name and password wont work. Instead it gives me the old "page cannot be displayed error"

Also i am unable to access other applications where a log in to an account is required eg. my steam account, interent banking ect and cannot download any windows updates. I have tried to install new virus protection whcih it will do until the anti virus program tries to update from the web and then it stops say "internet connection not active"

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated..

how are you connecting up to the internet are you using a cable or wireless?
is there any thing else on the page when the error appers?

No its just the standard page could not be displayed error.
My connection is through cable using IE6. I tried using fire fox but then nothing worked at all..

when it next comes up click on refresh a few times that might work if not go to tools, internet options and click on privecy or serucity and change something in there not sure want to change.

i Still require help..

Refreshing the window does nothing no matter how many times i do it.
i tried setting all securities to low but the problems still persists..
I think i may have a virus or some infection that is doing this??

have you done a anti virus scan. if so try putting a new harddrive in and see if stills comes up.
