Question Odd problem with a web site.

I am having a problem accessing a government website.
I am running windows XP. The problem occurs both in IE and Firefox.
We are on Verizon DSL.

If i enter the name of the site: vsc.gsa.gov I cannot get to the site. If I use a search tool and click on the link I cannot get to the site. I get a page load error. I called the site's tech support folks and they gave me the IP which is 209.225.34.185. If I put the IP in the address bar, it works.

I asked around and folks gave me many ideas to try none seemed to work.
In addition if I do an nslookup on vsc.gsa.gov I get 209.225.34.185. If I ping vsc.gsa.gov i get 216.64.203.225 which is incorrect.

I have run Hijack This and AdAware, I have flushed the dns cache. I have done a system restore to a point when it was working fine. I have checked the hosts file. None of these actions have made a bit of difference.

Now I am noticing other things strting to malfunction when I am on the net. On some sites the little ads on the page are replaced with an error message "cannot access ad.doubleclick.net"

Now I cannot access www.netzero..net (I check my email there) I get this message:
Failed to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ads.addynamix.com.
No other machines on the network have this issue and will return the same (and correct) info when running an nslookup and ping on vsc.gsa.gov

It surely seems that some sort of malware is messing with me but nothing I have run so far has found anything.

Help!!!!

Default Re: Odd problem with a web site.

I cannot help with your problem, but that website vsc.gsa.gov opens OK for me in FF3.0.

However your Netzero site spits the dummy with that link you supplied http://www.netzero..net/ (NetZero- Free Dial Up Internet Service - High Speed ISP - Net Zero Internet Provider - Netzero.com) as you have described both in FF 3.0 and IE6.

The address in brackets work as it only has one . before net...
