Default java freezing and hanging

Recently my java stopped working on some games that I play. I triede to update. Had same results. Uninstalled java and reinstalled. Now when I try to load games my internet explore will freeze and my task mgr shows iexplore using 100% of my cpu. Games work if I uninstall java, mostly. How can I resolve this problem?

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum

Let's just make sure that you are clean abd then re-install a fresh Java install;

To Clean...
  1. Close any open programs you may have running, especially your web browser
  2. Click Start > Control Panel
    • Depending on your OS or configuration, you may have to click Start > Settings > Control Panel
  3. Open Add or Remove Programs
    • If you have Windows 98 or Windows 2000, open Add/Remove Programs
  4. Click once on any item listing Java Runtime Environment in the name
    • Not every version of Java will begin with "Java" so be sure to read each entry in the list
  5. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button
  6. Follow steps 4 and 5 as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java
  7. Reboot your PC once all Java components have been removed
  8. Proceed with reinstalling Java
Reinstalling Java Components
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to http://www.java.com
  3. Click the Get It Now button
    • The installer should begin automatically. If it does not, click the Manual Download link
  4. Follow the prompts to install Java, agreeing with the license and selecting a typical install
Incidentally, what are these games?

Cleaned each and every time and tried clean installs from java site. ended up installing manual offline version to keep THAT process from hanging up. I know alot of the problem maybe the computer I'm working on is old, outdated and out used with very limited space and ram.
Only thing I can think of to do now is a new drive and OS to fix some of the problems here.

Possibly...are you sure it's Java that's being used in the game/application and therefore hanging? Have you run Task Manager with CPU % (highest at the top) when trying to run the game/app, to see what service is sticking?

yeah I have. When I check the task mgr, iexplore is using 100% and shows in the applications tab that internet explore is not responding. The games being played are on pogo and most require java to run, along with flash8.
