Hello,

Not very happy lately with the pile of horse **** BT call "broadband".

I've had it for several months now, (used to be with AOL). And it has got worse and worse as time has progressed, even through building a new computer, it has still deteriorated. Quite frankly, its a ****** scam, and im fuming.

All I wanna know is, has anyone here managed to cancel their contract for the reason that donkey *** comes their phone line instead of data?

Ive tested the line, all I get is 20 - 40 KBps DL at peak, that bull even at Peak, thats barely above 56k.****it, im gonna get a 56K modem right now, at least I'll know what I'm getting.

To give you an insight on the rant:
AOL = 700KBps Off Peak, 200KBps Peak
BT = 600KBps at 2AM, 300KBps Off Peak, 20KBps Peak.

I wanna switch back.

****

Oh, and both were 8MB Unlimited... my ****, be lucky to download 20mb.

Hi Scott.
First of all, please don't swear. This is a family forum and as the rules state we don't tolerate swearing. Thanks

Now i'm with BT and yes I have the same problem. From around 4pm - midnight the speeds are terrible. BT have told me we're being capped due to being classed as a heavy user (Downloads quite a large amount). Now apparantly only 1% of users are classed as this, which I find pathetic and don't believe that one bit.
When we signed up we were not notified of this and no one said we could be classed as a heavy user. I've been thinking for some time that we could claim it as a breach of contract and possibly get our contract terminated. I've not tried it yet, but you could start with that.
How long have you got left with the contract? I know there's a phone number to ring and you can ask, but I can't find the number anywhere!
If it's just a few months left on the contract i'd put up with it to be honest. Save you the hassle of paying for phone calls and maybe a fee to cancel the contract.

BT can only cap your connection if they can detect it, if your download connection is encrypted and you use port forwarding, speed and amount you download should be good, one other thing if your using the BT Home Hub it receives updates in the small hours of the morning and line speed will be impaired. and you do have the option to ask for your MAC code if you are not happy "no fun paying for something you don't like"

Get the MAC code and sign up to bethere.co.uk or an entanet reseller.

The only problem with the MAC code is that I'm contracted for 18 months, I just wanna know if anyone has managed to cancel their contract.

When did you start the contract? 18 month contract is well too long. Thats why I went for a one month contract with Entanet so I could get out if I had a problem.

9 months ago, the 18 month contract came with a good discount, im a sucker for a good discount. Now they got me by the balls.

I just called them, and because I couldnt answer every single question, they said they can't discuss it with me. I gave them my name, address, D.O.B, my bank details, the amount on my last bill... but I didnt have my account number.... wtf?
