Hi all,

I know its probably a common question but i've recently noticed my download speed decreasing.

Currently on Sky 8meg wireless but wired in. Currently the router stats are:

ADSL LINK DOWNSTREAM UPSTREAM
Connection Speed: 7872 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation: 29 db 6.5 db
Noise Margin: 6 db 21 db

However my downloads are taking ages with an average of 14.3KB/Sec.

Can anyone give any advice?

You got a good speed on your internet.

However I think Sky puts a cap on downloads as in you are only allowed so many megs download per month.

Uploads are always very slow.

Or you need to turn off router/modem for 1 minute and then reboot it.

The downloads being slow could be the site you are downloading from due to a busy server slowing down your downloads.
Or the site is experiencing problems.
There maybe several people trying to download the same file as you.
As your speed is fine then I would think it is either Sky capping your amount of downloads or the sites you are using are having difficulties or busy.

If the site is in another country then the download speed would be slower.

Thanks, that's given me a few pointers to try out. I'll try the reboot on the router and try some downloads from some other sites and see if things change.

I am on a capped account so I wonder if they slow your DL speeds down if your very close to the limit for that month.

Yes Rich I think Sky has capped your downloads.As your speed is very good.

They will slow or stop.

I would not doubt it... Ccleaner is a great browser tuner/cache cleaner...it will clean out all the unnecessary junk.
