Kaspersky and BitDefender are 2 EXCELLENT antispyware/antivirus suites, and they both offer FULL free 30 day trial versions. I run Kaspersky on 2 of my computers, and BitDefender on 1 of them.

AVG is quite possibly the best free antivirus program out there, I use it on my desktop and laptop, my boss also has it on all our work computers (which I disagree with since it's a business, but that's a different story...)
Here's my free program setup, all are free and keep your PC nice and secure:
AVG Antivirus Free Edition (runs auto at startup)
Spybot Search & Destroy (runs auto at startup)
ZoneAlarm Firewall (runs auto at startup)
Ad-Aware (does not run at startup, I manually run it when I feel the need)
CCleaner (does not run at startup)
The reason ad-aware doesn't run at startup is because you shouldn't ever run any antivirus or adware program at the same time as another.
Other people on here like to recommend Avast Antivirus but I've never used it (AVG does the job for me)

My Dad runs AVG on his computer and it was riddled with virus's the other week. It doesn't seem that Norton or my Spybot Search and Destroy are the problem though. Have removed both, re-started several times and I still can't get the updates to install. I'm just about to backup what I need from the hard drive on that computer though, and then I'm going to junk that drive and start again from scratch. Good job I have my wife's laptop to hand.

Still haven't figured out where in the control panel to sort out my graphics problem though.

I really hate computers. AAAARGHHHH!!!!

Or perhaps it's just my incompetence I hate.
