Ok, I just off of the phone with a guy from verizon (my internet provider) trying to solve a problem. The speed going into my router is 800kbps but when i try to download a file off the internet or play an online game it is extremely slow, like 30kbps. But when i just surf the net it pretty quick. I have a wireless netgear router but even when i bypass that and plug the cat5 into the modem, same thing. I had comcast as of a month ago and easily got 800-900kbps downloads but now.....my pc is almost useless, cant update steam games, cant download files, can barely play online games.

What is the deal?

Same here but depends on time of day and how far you are away from exchange depends on how your speed runs.MM,I think its pritty normal but If you have a low end CPU or small amount of RAM then that can affect speed also.I am on 4 meg in the morning im geting 4 meg by evening as net gets busy I am down some times to less than 2 meg.

yeah well i always get under a meg but rubbish....30kilobytes a sec, why dont i just have a sloth bring me the info, itll be faster. with comcast my old service, it was fast 800 kilos a sec. and now nothin...
