Okay i bought a Net Gear router model DG834G. The disconnections have stopped however, during the day, i experience very slow latency/browsing. On the other hand, it works perfectly at night at around 10 or 11 onward.

Could this problem be due to overcrowded users during the day? A friend of mine said it could be because of the weather. The ISP cable could get heated up during the day and cooldown at night effecting the latency since the cables aren't underground. I have no idea what it could be but wanted your advice.

Cheers!

Has this been since using your new router? What ISP are you with?

You can check compare your actual connection speed with what your supposed to be getting from here: Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test , however connection speed is normally down to your ISP and your telephone company, but your correct, speed can be affected by all of those things. Most commonly your contention ratio (overcrowded as you mentioned).

Actually no, i have experienced these problems with my old router as well. I am supposed to be getting around 2048 k/bs but after doing the test on the Speedtest.net website, i got the result 1749 k/bs. I did the test on my ISP's website before and i sometimes get much lower results at certain times.
My ISP is Batelco.

1749 kbps is ok, you'll never get exactly 2048 kbps. If it's happening at certain times during that day, most likely the evening when a more people are using the net, then it's more likely to be your contention ratio. If your broadband provider can't supply they speed they promised you, I would consider switching.
