Default [Resolved] IP Adress question

Im trying to play a game which connects directly to an IP.. teh way it work is one person click on "listen" (i gues tahst to listen for a connection attempt) whiel teh other person clicks on connect and type the connecting person IP address in) however Ive tried listnening for theyre connection and it doesnt work (it just times out after they try connecting for awhile)... so i have them listen and i try connecting to them.. same thing.. A few months ago i tried it witha different person (and it worked fine) any idea what the problem could be? (my firewall is off (my windows firewalls anyway but i doubt i have any others) at the moment so that couldnt be in).. my internet connection and modem are working fine... also if my IP address is 69.252.189.69 then why is it when i type in ipconfig at the command prompt i dont see an IP anywhere like that? am i doing something wrong?

Have you got a WiFi Router? If you can, log into the router. See if you can find the IP address of the router (usually on the back of the router itself) Then, type that into your browser and log in. The default username is: admin and the password default is: password
Then you should be able to find a Firewall menu (if its turned on in your router). From there, you can add a service. Title it with your game, and the LAN Users IP Address is your own IP. Then select the WAN Users as Any. That should allow it to work.
If you know what ports your game uses to connect to other users, go to the Service's tab in your router and set up a service, with the same title as the Firewall Service you set up before. That will only open the ports used by your game, so it's safer

I'm pretty sure thats right, or I completley missed the point...hope not
PM if you need more help
