May i know what is a proxy server? How may i set up one, or detour one if there is already one built-in place. I would like to learn how do i set up a proxy server (basic) in a home environment setting. hope that someone could enlighten me thank you.

A proxy server for home setup is mostly pointless.

However, there are a few different purposes for proxy servers...one being as a firewall, so that nothing can go in or out. Another being a transparent proxy...it's there, but noone knows it's there - good for tracking what websites people are going to.
