I am looking to invest in a new laptop within the next few months and I want to be able to connect to the internet.

I currently have a desktop PC which will also still need to be in use. My internet connection is currently using a wired modem with a USB and ethernet port. It is connected to the dekstop via the UBS connection.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what I would need to purchase and how I would go about setting this connection up. If it helps the desktop runs on windows XP and hopefully when i purchase my laptop it will be running on Windows Vista.

Hi Chris, welcome to PCHF.

You'll need a router instead of a modem for multiple PC connections. If you want to connect wirelessly, I would suggest a wireless netgear broadband router (which you can you to replace your modem completely).
