[Fixed] Internet Explorer Problem
I hope someone can help me with this. I've got a problem I'm really stumped on.
Brief background. I developed a problem about 2 weeks ago where Quicken Deluxe 2007 would not download transactions from my bank. All credit cards worked ok, but not the bank with checking and savings accounts. I've spent a lot of time with the bank and Quicken support. The end result is that somehow Internet Explorer has been changed so that it is not logging into my bank at the right SSL level. (IE is the browser Quicken uses for internet access).
I was using IE 7 with up-to-date updates. Help/About said it was doing 128 bit security, but when I ran a check at Cyscape.com's Browserhawk, it said my SSLKeySize is 56 bits. According to my bank, they require 128 bit minimum and that's why my updates won't work anymore. I'm beyond trying to figure out what changed. I just want to fix it.
We went through the reset to default all settings in IE. I rolled back to IE 6 thinking it was a problem with a bad upgrade even though I upgraded last February and this just started now. Still have same problem. (By the way, Firefox has no problem - it's at 128 bits but Quicken only works with IE - figures)
I've scanned pc for spyware and viruses - found some minor spyware and it's all removed. Used both updated Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware. I'm using Avast! Personal completely up-to-date.
I've run all the fixes for IE6 recommended by Microsoft - nothing.
I'm really stumped. Has anyone got any idea how I fix something like this? I've searched the internet and not seen anyone else with a similar problem.
Equipment is a laptop with XP Media Edition SP2. Zone Alarm 7.0 firewall. I've tried with firewall, anti-virus and all other background apps turned off. Even tried in Safe Mode with networking - same result.
I'm using a Verizon Kyocera KP650 aircard to get Verizon's broadband access. I'm accessing the card over a DLink DIR-450 router. I have another laptop accessing the internet via the same card, and it does not have the same problem, so I don't think the router is the problem. I've duplicated the problem with the aircard in my laptop as well.
Well, if anyone has any ideas, I'd sure appreciate some help with this. I'm going to re-install IE7 even though I don't like it much. It's the last thing I can think of to do short of formatting my hard drive.
Thanks!
