Default I have to restart my computer every few hours for my internet to work

Every time I leave my laptop on and try to use Firefox after a few hours of inactivity the page doesn't load so I'm forced to restart my computer. After that it works fine until it's left inactive for a while.

I know it's not our internet service because my sister leaves her computer on all day and the internet works fine.

I reinstalled Firefox and the problem persists. I don't even know where to begin.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to PC Help Forum

We'll first make a change and then test.

You can use Device Manager to change the power management settings for a network adapter. To disable this setting in Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, click Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.

After I expand Network Adapters, right-click the adapter, then click Properties, there is no Power Management tab, just a General, Driver, and Details tab.

Ok, try and get to it this way...

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.
2. Right-click the network connection that you want to configure, and then click Properties.
3. Click on the "Configure" button
4. See if the Power Management tab is present in there

Ok, I found a Power Management option but there wasn't anything that said "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". There was a default value box that was checked and the bar was at the lowest. I unchecked that and moved the bar to the highest because it said lowest was for maximum battery life and highest was for maximum performance.

Let me know if this is correct.

Also, thanks for the help.

Yes, that sounds like the right setting - run it like that for 24 hours as a test.
