Default [Resolved] Something killed my internet.

I recently did an update to Windows Xp today. After restarting I could not connect to the internet at all. So I looked in the event viewer and found this:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7001
Date: 8/4/2007
Time: 1:55:57 PM
User: N/A
Computer: BPC
Description:
The Network Location Awareness (NLA) service depends on the TCP/IP Protocol Driver service which failed to start because of the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Since that time I have not been able to connect to the internet. I'm not sure if it's the update that caused it but AVG also caught and removed TCPIP.sys around the same time of the update.
Could anyone assist me in fixing this problem?

Hi there,

First step would be to Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow (there is a space between sfc and /scannow)...you'll need your Windows CD.

If that doesn't work, I'd suggest following the prework link in my signiture and post the resulting logs.

A while after posting this I solved the problem by taking tcpip.sys off my laptop then repatching it with the lvllord program. Just had to redo the portforwarding and everything was fine. The admins could lock and trash this. Thanks for the response.
