and when it does im gonna format my old PC and sell it on, what i'd like to know is
where firefox stores me passwords as im hoping i can copy the file(?) onto a memory card and transfer it to the new one once i've installed firefox onto it, as i use a different password on every site i use and don't want to have to type 'em all back in again coz i'm lazy! lol! would it be that simple? anyone know?

Also where, online or highstreet, would you recommend buying another 1 gig of ram for my new comp, i assume it would be a good idea to buy the same brand/ type stuff thats already in it, yes?
cheers in advance!

Hi,

Some love it...other hate it but yes, FF does store your passwords in normal text:

Simply go to Tools -> Options -> Security and click on the SHOW PASSWORDS > then again, Show passwords button. I don't know where else they are held (I checked the registry). You could screen grab and then manually enter them in I guess...

As for the memory, I can personally recommend Saverstore: Cheap PC/Server Memory

How about using the FEBE FEBE Firefox Extension
it's an extension that backs up all of your old Extentions and settings and passwords (all customizable) very easy to do. Just install the extention, set up preferences then make backup. Install firefox on new machine and install FEBE from backup folder you just made and use it to restor all of you old setting to just how the way they were before.

P.S. to Hengis: you can encrypt your passwords with master password in firefox. when you start it up and reach a site that requires a login it prompt you for you master password one time. If you don't have it you can't even look at the screename/passwords in options.

thanx guys for your replies! all seems simple enough, i'll get onto that later
thats the only problem with getting a new pc, reinstalling everything onto it, takes ages!(that and realising just how little your old pc is worth when you try to sell it lol!)
