Default Where is my IP address?

Hi
Im just interested to know, where in my pc does my IP address come from? I know WHAT the address is, but I'd like to know what piece of hardware actually identifies my pc to the outside world? Is it in the processor? The hard drive? The Motherboard?

Cheers

It would usually be the network card or modem.

Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig /all this should give you plenty of info.

Yes it would! Well spotted

I typed "ipconfig /all" and a window flashed up for a second then disappeared!

Run it from command prompt (Start > Run > cmd) don't just type it in the run box.

Nice to see someone else that appreciates his......style? lol.

"style" is one way of putting it! Quite a perverted one!
Anyway, Ive done that but, being quite ignorant when it comes to technical stuff, I cant make much sense of the info it gives.

What am I looking for to find out what piece of hardware my IP address comes from?

thanks
