Free-Codecs.com : QuickTime Alternative 1.81 : QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files (.mov, .qt and other extensions) without having to install the official QuickTime Player.

Suggest you click on this link and install the quicktime alternate. It might help you play the video. If the extention is the same, then either file should work the same way. I use the alternate to quicktime and the video works fine for me.
