Here's a couple things that could cause it:
First, dump your temporary internet files. If you have an internet eraser like Window Washer or AbsoluteShield try running it. Here is a trial version of absolute shield, install it and run it. It will clean things very well.

Second, it may be your internet connection. PC Pitstop offers a free internet speed test you might want to try.
It probably wouldn't hurt to do a defrag also if you haven't done one lately.
