Question Was 2Mbps now 608.0Kbps

My dad was recently on my pc trying to connect to the internet and he was pressing allsorts before I finally noticed what he was doing and connected for him (he's more of a newbie than I am at computers). Anyway, I dont know what he's done but my internet now connects at 608.8Kbps as apposed to 2Mbps what it usually connects at which has slowed down my download speed greatly!

I'm running Zonealarm for all my security issues (anti virus, firewall etc) and thats the only thing that I can think may have affected my speed but I cant for the life of me know why.

ok DSL is a little tricky.. If you have a speed that says you have 2 megabits your more than likely to get somewhere around 1.5

I have a 8 meg speed but never get above 6 megs.

Go here and let me know what it says your download speed is.. Try the test twice..

2Wire.com: Speed Meter

As you see I have a 8 meg download speed but look at what my speed is at this time.. It will go up and down every now and then though

I know in the pic it looks like i'm downloading something but I paused it before I did the test.

I dont expect 'exactly what it says on the tin' but as I say, it always connected at 2Mbps untill my dad got his hands on it and now it always connects at 608.0Kbps.

ok lets try this..

OPen internet explorewr.. go to internet tools..Go to connections...Make sure "There is no check mark in any box even under the advanced tab

Also open your network connections..right click the connection and click repair..Lets see if that helps.. I just seen your from the UKL so that test will of course be slow as it is in the US..

Try this site.
