Question [Answered] Broadband Modem

Hi,

1st time posting here. Hope you can help me. I was with a ISP in Ireland for about 1 year and would like to change. but i really don't want to buy a new modem every time i decide to change.
My question is this, can i use my old modem with my new ISP, or are they locked to a particular ISP.
And if they are locked, can they be unlocked. As it is a waste to leave a good (working) modem in a box.It is a Netopia 3347 wired and wireless.

Thanks for your time.

To answer your question...if you own the modem, you don't need to buy another one.
They are not locked to a company - at least, not in Australia, and i haven't heard of it done anywhere else.

Same as what GaRHaR said, unless your ISP wants the modem back one you leave the company, you should be fine .

Some companies over here do actually. I think Sky lock their routers and maybe some other companies, but most don't.

Yeh Modified DG834Gs. I think you can get them 'unlocked' though.
