Question Please help me! Having trouble with mtv.com

Hi there,
My name is Amber. I am new to the site. I found you by doing a Google search for technical support. I am so relieved that there is a website out there for people like me who need help. I'm hoping I will find it here. I am so frustrated with the mtv.com website. When I go to the URL, all I get is a black screen. I know that mtv.com is an all flash site. I've had trouble with it off and on in the past, but as of late, it has been working fine. I have been able to watch videos, episodes of tv programs, etc. I ran the disk defragmenter and disk clean-up on my computer recently. Now, I get this blank black screen on mtv.com. I show that I still have Adobe Flash Player 9 on my computer so I am baffled. Can anyone help me or make some suggestions? I really appreciate it!
Thanks so much!!
A very frustrated Amber

Using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6? Is MTV the only site you are having problems with?
Try following these steps. To change your security level:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Choose Tools > Internet Options.
  3. Select the Security tab.
  4. Choose Internet.
  5. Click Custom Level.
  6. Ensure that the "Download Signed ActiveX controls" option is set to "Prompt".
  7. Ensure that the "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" option is set to "Prompt".
Otherwise, can I suggest using a browser called Firefox rather than Internet Explorer? It is more stable and might show whatever your looking for, but you will have to install Flash for Firefox, that that's easy, Firefox walks you through it all.
Mozilla - Home of the Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email client

Unhappy Still no luck

Hi there,
I tried everything, exactly as instructed below with no luck. I then installed Firefox, rebooted and tried again. I still get just a plain black blank screen when accessing the mtv.com website. Because the site is an "all flash" site, I'm certain it has something to do with flash. I've tried to re-install it, but it just tells me that "installation is complete". I'm still unable to view any text, pictures or site content. This is the only site I'm having trouble with. I've logged on to other all-flash sites and haven't had any trouble. Without being able to access the site content, I can't even let them know I'm having trouble. I know it's my computer in particular. Any advice or suggestions anyone else can offer?
I would really appreciate it! This is a site I visit (or used to visit) almost every day. This is driving me crazy!!
Thanks so much!!
Amber
