Default [Pending] help

My pc will not allow me to view certain web pages such as myspace.com and facebook.com. When I type in the url nothing happens, it shows a blank page and says done at the bottom. Everyone I've asked is clueless and has never heard of soemthing like this. I don't know if this is a virus, a hacker, or a parental control. But I could really use some help trying to figure out what this is.

Hello jessie, and welcome to pchf......the first thing I would do is ask your parents if they have locked out certain websites, as that is entirely a possibility, and being a parent myself, I certainly wouldn't want to help someone bypass any parental rules that they have set in place.

Having said that, I am not entirely sure that were they to block it, you would get nothing on the page; I think you would get a notice that that page was inaccessable. Can you get to other sites, such as MSN.com and Yahoo!

Ask your parents, then post back, and I'll talk to one of the bosses here to see what we can do for you.

Thanks,

v

Hey Guys,

@Jessie - My welcome to PCHF as well. The responding page to a parental lock will depend entirely on the program used to create it.

I would agree with Valis, that if this is a parental lock, you should speak with your parents. It is important to have conversations about where they are comfortable with you going, for your safety, and for you to communicate your wishes to commune with friends etc., in order to develop a good and trusting relationship for you both. You should definitely have a clear understanding of their rules and expectations for you when you are online.

That being said, if you would like to post an HijackThis log, we would most likely be able to tell you if there is a locking program on your PC. If there is not, there could be a malware infection. So to be sure, please go the PreWork link in my signature, only follow the instructions for HijackThis for now, and post the log back here.

We'll be looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
