Default Can only connect through Rounter

Hi! I wanted to test my broadband speed when my PC is directly connect to my cable modem, but no matter how I reset my IP, I just could not connect to the net directly. I can only connect when my pc is connected to the rounter.

Your IP & DNS should be set to "AutoDetect" if you are connecting directly to the cable modem. Then you will need to:

Click start > run > type cmd and hit enter. In the new window type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. Then type inconfig /release (hit enter) then ipconfig /renew (hit enter) - you should be able to successfully connect directly to the cable modem.
