Default Internet Will Not Connect....

when i close my laptop and reopen it....

if i turn my computer off, and then start it up again, everything (internet-wise) will begin normally. the internet (which is wireless, by the way) does perfectly fine. that is, until i close my screen. when i reopen the screen, it appears to be connecting, but never does.
it recognizes that i have a connection, and attempts to connect, but eventually just times out. when i double click the wireless icon, it shows that it is trying to connect, but never does...
any suggestions?
thanks, in advance

Hi cincy,

When the laptop screen closes, most of the devices (such as the screen) switches off to save power. Some devices have problems after this happens. You can normally stop the device from switching off from:

- Control Panel, System, Hardware tab, Device Manager.
- Have a look for your wireless network adaptor in here. Once found, right click on it and go to Propeties.
- In the Power Management tab, untick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Bless you for all your help, mad monkey...

when i go to the device manager, i find "network adapters", but not "wireless network adapters"...not sure if that is different...
still, when i right-click that, then "properties", all that comes up is an unclickable "network adapters" with a green icon to the left. there is nothing to click, so i can only hit 'okay'.

Your close, the wireless network adaptor should be a sub item of "Network Adaptors". You may need to find what the name of your wireless adaptor is, for example:

If your not sure, list them here and I can tell you which one it is.

okay, under the network adapters thread, it lists these three:
1394 Net Adapter
Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

...i tried what you said- actually on all three of those- and it didn't work. i reopened my screen and it tried to connect but timed out and prompted me that it failed.

OK, it may also be set under PCMCIA, if your card is PCMCIA. Look for these devices also.
