Default Cannot change home page for Boss!!

My boss inherited my W98 PC approx 3 years ago. He would like to change his IE home page, but access to this within the Tools is not available. A pop up box tells him he doesn't have the authority to access the Internet Options. When I had the computer I had access to everything as a system administrator on the network. Going through Control Panel still does not allow the change because the Home Page option is 'greyed out'.

Any ideas on how to give him what he wants? He's 71, and I'd like to save him some keystrokes if I can.

Hi marylou
I cant really help with your problem, only i can say that i have seen the problem before on a old Windows 98 PC i had. Now you could try logging off, and typing in admin and then clicking OK. The only problem with logging off is if it will let you log back on again.. Thats just an idea and seeing as i dont no much about windows 98 it probably wont work. As i said i never solved the problem ,but i would reckon its not a virus or spyware etc. Wont do any harm to get the logs anyway and dont try anythin i have said until a member of the team has helped you further.
Good Luck!

No i don't think its a virus or spyware but it may show the restriction up in the HijackThis Log.

Sorry bugsey...but it wont

It's not going to be a virus.

I'm assuming he's gotten the computer from a company that had a domain set up...the computer is still looking for the domain probably. You'll need to add the username he's currently got as a local administrator and he'll be able to do everything - either that or remove his computer from the domain...but you'll need the local administrator password to do both of these things....
