Default [Fixed] Internet Connection Problem!

Hey there!
Just recently today, has one of my computers been experiencing internet difficulties. I'm hard wired directly into the wall, therefore i'm not using wireless. I have a desktop computer which is right next to my laptop, and when I plug it in to the outlet it connects perfectly to the internet. When I plug my laptop in, it says i'm connected but the internet isn't working. I pinged 192.168.1.1 and tried every other computer in the house and they are working fine. I have run multiple virus checks to make sure it was not a virus. It just happened today after i had restarted my computer. When I restarted it, It had some crappy difficulties loading up (got stuck at the Windows XP loading screen) and I was forced to choose the option "Start windows using the settings that worked from your previous boot" or something of that sort. It then loaded up perfectly but my internet did not work. If anyone can help me on this, it'd be much appreciated.

Ugh, I'm guessing this will be difficult

Since I cannot connect to the internet on the computer thats screwed up, I cant download the file. Should I download it on another computer that can actually work and is not having any problems?

*confused*

Hi warhammer, try this.

Start -> Run -> type in cmd and push ok -> type in ipconfig /flushdns and push enter

Then try connecting.
