Okay, i plugged the internet cable into my laptop and ran a ping on google.com

Pinging google.com [64.233.187.99] with 32 bytes of data:

this is really weird. It's reading something even though I can't even access the internet..wtf

Alright.

At least we know the connection is there...we just have to figure out why it's not letting you on.

Do you have any software firewalls isntalled?

The connection is firewalled, as it has always been.

I am also using NOD32.

I don't see why suddenly this would be causing any problems

--Btw-- I have some traces of Norton on my computer that act up every now and then..but its been happening for a while and never did it interfere with my internet.

hmmm...

can you goto your control panel and check to see if there is an icon there for "WinAntivirus Pro" ??

Try disabling both Norton and Windows Firewall..just to test for now.

They might be too overactive...or might be conflicting with each other.
