[Resolved] - Trouble detecting ethernet controller...
Okay, let me give you all the full scoop on my problem. My computer got majorly messed up and wouldn't load the Windows XP OS, so I installed another Windows XP OS and simply transferred my data from the old XP to the new one. However, now that I'm trying to connect to the internet my computer is having issues detecting the ethernet controller. I'm running a broadband connection through the ISP Roadrunner, and I have the connections made through a wireless Linksys router. I have three computers, two of which connect to the internet fine, but the one mentioned above (the one I transferred data through two copies of XP), just doesn't load anything when I start Internet Explorer.
I've done some sleuthing around in my PC trying to locate the source of the problem, and I think I've found it. When I open the Device Drivers window (through the control panel), I noticed that the Ethernet Controller has a yellow exclamation point next to it, which means to me that there's an issue there. Also in the Device Drivers window, I found that there is no Network Adapters option on the list. Finally, when I open the Network Connections window, there is no LAN icon or anything. Now I found that I can add the Network Adapters option to the list, but it has me choosing a driver, this is where I'm stuck, I have no idea which one I'm missing or which one to choose. Hopefully I've provided enough information here. Thanks in advance to any and all help I receive, my internet life hangs in your hands ^_^.
