Default [Fixed] I need internet help

Me and Garhar have been dealing with this for hours on end and have given up and need your help.

The problem is that I have 2 computers hooked up on cable with a linksy router the dell 8300 has had alot of problems this night from all its reformatting and hard drive configuration so right now we have pretty much everything sorted out for the dell incept for its internet. The internet on the other computer is working fine. When I do a ipconfig on the command prompt on both computers i get 2 totally different Ips. I actually dont get a ip for the dell i just get a auto configuartion ip for it. I have it to auto detect for ip adress but still nothing. If i have to reformatt again (3rd time in 2 days) I will. But I will not do so until i know i must .....soo please guys help me out. My MSN screen name is gtasa535@hotmail.com This would help alot if you talked to me on there instead of refreshing a page.....thanks guys please help me.

off to bed for now i will check back up on this later.... 6 am ahhhh

Moved to Internet Help

Is your router (can we have the model number) set up as a DHCP device, i.e; does it issue out addresses to connected PCs?

Sure, click on start > run > type in cmd and press return. Type in ipconfig /release. Then when the IP address is released, type in ipconfig /renew.

This should force your PC to grab an IP address from the router. Also, before you do the above, go into your network settings and make sure that you have "Obtain IP address automatically"

Try running this app to see if it fixes the connection problem:

WinsockXPFix.exe
