Default IE 7 Problems with displaying Unsecure info

I have downloaded the new IE 7.0 and now where I used to get a warning about displaying nonsecure info on a secure site, it gives an error mesage. I can right click and I have the option to "show Blocked info" so I click it and then the explorer give a java script error mesage of "errors on page". That is all that changes. I believe it is a pdf file in the middle of the web page. I tried to redownload IE 6 but it says that I have already downloaded a newer version. The only reason I downloaded IE 7 was to try and fix an earlier problem and now this, Good Times. Also it seems to not want to open acrobat pdf files. Anybody else having this problem. Any ideas? Thanks
PS I would not recomend IE 7 to anybody else. Not just because of the problems I am having, I just don't like it that much. I am sure when I get used to it I won't mind it so much but that is my .02

Hi Richard,

My welcome to PCFH, I don't believe that I've had the pleasuere. I am so terribly sorry about the delay in answering your post.

I don't know what problems you were having with IE6, but it may have been caused by malware. Let's start by having you follow the PreWork instructions in my signature. Post back both the ewido and the HijackThis logs, and we'll see where to start.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Ok sorry it took so long to post back. Here are a couple answers to your questions. I moved up to IE 7 because I had a problem with corrupted cookies. Before I knew what the problem was I downloaded IE7 to see if that would fix the problem. I want to go back to IE 6 but I cannot bucause it says I have a newer version installed.
Ok the Virus scan showed
0 found and ignored:
0tools used:
General Scanner, Process Scanner, LSP Scanner, Startup Scanner, Registry Scanner, Hosts Scanner, Browser Scanner, Browser Activity Scanner, Disk Scanner, ActiveX Scanner
My hijack and Ewido logs are attached
I hope this helps. I am wondering if it is a problem with the security settings but I have tried to fix what I can without result. I seems like explorer has a problem opening pdf, quicktime, and some floating menues within other sites.
www.wildlife.utah.gov has a gray menu to the left that will not show up when I view the page. I do get an error message at the bottom of the page the details say "'undefined' is null or not an object"

Hya Richard , looks like you forgot the Ewido log. Can you try to post that again?

But i don't see any malware problems sofar , only im not sure what this is for:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DisableAutoRestart] regedit.exe /s "C:\TAC\Software\Registry Fixup\DisableAutoRestart.reg"

Do you know why that is present youreself?

PS , you should be able to remove i.e. 7 , and go back to 6 if you want:

Updating or Reinstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3
You cannot install Internet Explorer 7 over itself. If you want to reinstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 (or install a newer version) you must first remove any existing Internet Explorer 7 versions.
Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
Click ?Start,? and then click ?Control Panel.?
Click ?Add or Remove Programs.?
Scroll down to "Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3", select it, and then click "Change/Remove". If you cannot find any Internet Explorer 7 entry in "Add or Remove Programs", run
%windir%\ie7beta3\spuninst\spuninst.exe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)

Uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, Beta 2 Preview, or Beta 1 and return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
  • Click "Start", and then click "Control Panel"
  • Click "Add or Remove Programs"
  • Scroll down to "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2" or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview", select it, and then click "Change/Remove".
  • If not found, check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box, scroll down the list to "Windows XP - Software Updates", select "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" or "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1" and then click "Change/Remove".
If you cannot find any Internet Explorer 7 entry in "Add or Remove Programs", try running these commands. Each is for a different release of Internet Explorer 7 so only one will succeed.
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7beta1$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7b2pmx$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
  • %windir%\$NtUninstallie7beta2$\spuninst\spuninst.e xe. (To do this, you need to have "view hidden folders" enabled.)
Hangs During Uninstall--If the uninstall process hangs while removing Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2, delete any custom sound schemes created after installing the Internet Explorer 7 Beta and retry the uninstall.

Soory 'bout that Here is the ewido log, as for that file I have no idea why that is there or where it came from. Do you think I should try the delete it? anyway thanks for the help and I will try to get IE6 back. Maybe that is the fix. I was not having any of these problems till I tried to fix a different problem. Anyway thanks again and I will let you know if IE6 fixes the problem, till then here is the Ewido log.

Well thanks for showing me how to remove IE 7. I was afraid that if I removed it, I would be removing IE all together. I now have IE 6 back and everything seems to be working correctly again. I am not sure if the problem what the way I downloaded IE 7. I did a custom install without the toolbars and all the other stuff they wanted me to have for free.
So my problem has gone away with the install of IE6. Thanks ladygreenwitch and thanks joe5 for the help. While I have the logs and you have the logs, is there anything I should delete? Thanks again for the help and I appreciate any further advice you can give.
