Default Lost bookmarks

Hey
I keep all my bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox. And i logged on this morning, and they were all gone? Its quite important that i can get them back as there are a lot of links and sites that i need for project work. I usually make backups but i haven't done one for a week. And the last week has been really busy so ive added a lot more bookmarks.
Im on Mozilla Firefox V 1.5.0.4
Any help is much appreciated
Many Thanks
Matt

1. Close Firefox completely (select File > Exit from the main menu of Firefox).
2. Select Start > Run... from the Windows Start menu.
3. Enter firefox.exe -profilemanager and press OK.

Then click on the other profile (if there is one) and check don't ask at start-up and then start firefox.

Hasn't worked. There is only the default profile.
Any other suggestions. I did a system restore to the Day before. But still not the same. Is it worth going back any further?
Many thanks
Matt

It seems it is a problem between Windows and FF.

From Mozilla.org:
In the very unfortunate event that your bookmarks are lost, you will not be able to restore them unless you have backup. You may try to reclaim some of them from your browsing history; open the History window (go menu, history), right click (option click on Mac OS) on the Web address you want to bookmark, and choose Bookmark this Link.
To prevent this from happening, we advise you to back up your profile periodically.

From Mozilla.org:
I have seen this happening a lot recently on forums. I have just backed up mine to be on the safe side.
