Default Certain Pages Cannot Be Found

I?m having a problem which has only occurred since returning from holiday. I am on 56K with Tiscali, I can connect OK and can get to various sites without a problem except 2. Iif I try to go to Google or Easyjet for instance all I?m getting is a blank page. I.e. page not available. All browsers/internet settings are correct and no viruses have been found with AVG Pro.

I am getting to the BBC sites, Nero, Grisoft and many more without a problem, I installed A2 Squared and it found 32 malicious objects, these were deleted. I also deleted all Cookies and the Temp folders and also carried out the IE repair procedure. I then rebooted and on trying these particular 2 sites again both loaded without a problem, I tried a further 3 reboots and each time they loaded without a problem. So problem solved?

Last night, switching the PC on and connecting I have found the problem has returned again, these 2 pages will just not load, I ran A2 again which found nothing, can anyone solve this annoying problem.

Can anyone suggest why this fault is happening? I am running Win98SE

Thanks

Hi Super Tramp,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful team of techs on site, and I am sure that we will be able to help you.

Although you have searched for virus' that doesn't mean that there aren't other types of malware infecting your PC. In fact all of your symptoms sound like they are malware related. Please follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, ignoring the part about ewido, because it isn't compliant with 98.

Also download Spy Sweeper from my signature, and run a full system scan with that, saving the log at the end.

Post back with both the HijackThis log and the Spy Sweeper log, and we'll see where we go from there.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Hya LGW , no need to give extra instructions for spysweeper and/or win98/me users ect. , i have changed the prework instructions a while back and included separete instructions for spysweeper/win98/me.

You can send them directly to the prework.
