my internet seems to be downloading extremely slowly when i use certain applications. it works fine for example if i go onto internet explorer and download a windows update, but if i go onto itunes and access the music store it takes hours to open, or if i use napster i get a download speed of 0.03 kb/s. i tried doing a broadband speed test and that worked fine. i have 2mb/sec broadband. anyone know what might be causing this???? i've disabling my firewall to see if it was that, but it didnt make a difference

So surfing for example works fine, and also downloading using IE?
Can you give some details about how you are connected to the internet?
Are you using a router?

yes surfing the net its fine. im not using a router. just connected straight to the modem

try uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it...but before download adaware from download.com to see if the speed is good...install it, update it and run it.
see if that improves things. what kind of virus protection are you running. if none download avg from the same site

One thing that could be the problem is those are popular sites and it could just be a large volume of traffic on their servers. You could try to go to those sites either late night or early morning when most people are sleeping.
